Data and Hutton

Hutton had conducted many experiments and each experiment gave significant outcomes. While the data alone just show statistics and information it is up to the scientist to determine what the numbers or data means. What Hutton had to do was not only explain it to himself but to everyone else. The problem that Hutton had was that he needed to convince the people in his time and area that his observations were correct and that they proved all prior theories wrong. Eventually Hutton did do this and was successful as a geologist, in fact one of the most famous geologist in the history of mankind.
