Social or Solitary

Science is considered to be a solitary career. We protray scientists as loners who work in their labs all day with no accompany. James Hutton is a great example that this idea of a scientist lifestyle is wrong. James Hutton's work and reasearch was not done by himself rather with a couple of friends and other brillant scientists. These men were all part of the Scottish Enlightenment, especially Joseph Black who was a good friend of Hutton and shared the love of chemistry. Together they brought their formidable grasp of chemistry to bear on the geological problems that Hutton was considering and proving that science just can't be done alone but needs social help.

I haven't really picked an offical carreer I'm determined to follow or pursue. However I' ve always considered joining the marines for many reasons. One which is because like science the marines is a very social carreer always supporting one another to get task done. I believe working is esstienal in everones lifes and having people there to help you work is makes life easier. I do believe humans can get task done and progress but i think sometimes everyone needs a little help. The history of science is a great example of this and how science collabrated with one another to get as far as society is today all becuase of social working.
